CONGRATULATIONS TO ED BRILL
As of today, Ed Brill is the new Director, End-User Messaging and
Collaboration; a promotion that makes Ed responsible for primary end-user focused offerings and to continue and grow the Lotus brand's footprint and competitive stance in the end-user collaboration marketplace.
In his new position, products under Ed?s umbrella include Lotus
Notes/iNotes, Lotus Symphony, portions of Project "Atlantic", traveler, and others.
Most recently, Ed was the Business Unit Executive, Worldwide Lotus Notes Sales for Lotus. Prior to that Ed spent more than 2 years as a Senior Product Marketing Manager for the Lotus brand, and before that was a Product Marketing Manager for Notes all the way back to Lotus Notes R5 software. His roots are as a Systems Engineer for Lotus Development Corp. back in the early days of the mid 90s and a Network Engineer for US Robotics before Joining Lotus. Ed is also a member of the LotusUserGroup.org Advisory Council.
Ed has been a long-standing pillar in the Lotus community, promoting and evangelizing the Notes/Domino line and, maybe more importantly to some, maintaining an aggressively public posture to ensure the Lotus community is fully informed of the IBM Lotus strategy, strengths, and roadmap.

CALL FOR PAPERS: THE VIEW ADMIN2009 AND LOTUS DEVELOPER2009 BOSTON
Do you have expert knowledge in a specific area or areas of Lotus technology? Do you have an idea for a great Lotus IT sessions that you haven't seen anywhere else and know from your experience is needed in the community? Want to share some of your expertise and hands-on experience with others in the Lotus community? Well, here's your chance. In an attempt to expand their selection of new topics and broaden their speaker roster, THE VIEW is reaching out to the Lotus community through this "Call for Proposals" for sessions at their Admin2009 and Lotus Developer2009 conferences, coming up April 15 - 18 in Boston.
THE VIEW invites you to submit a proposal for each of the topics that you'd like to deliver at the events next April. VIEW Content management staff will review all proposals and then contact participants for phone interviews and to discuss next steps. This process consists of filling out a Call For Proposals Form where you'll provide specific information regarding session ideas and topics, then submitting the form(s) to Michelle Goldman, Conference Producer for THE VIEW, by Friday, October 10,
2008. THE VIEW will then review all the proposals and begin scheduling follow-up speaker interviews over the two weeks following the deadline.

Tip: Default File Attachments to Open
Tired of always choosing whether to "Open" or "View" a file attachment in e-mail? The Lotus Notes 8.0.1 client has a new setting that lets you always "Open" an attachment when you double-click it, without getting the Open/View prompt. Just add this to your Notes.ini file:
AttachmentActionDefault=1
And restart your Notes client.

IBM LOTUS NOTES AND DOMINO EXPANDS TO NEW MARKETS WITH IPHONE, SECURITY

Lotus Notes and Domino Has Grown to 140 Million Users Worldwide
Last week IBM Lotus announced an expansion of its Lotus Notes and Domino collaboration flagship software to new markets and users with 8.0.2 which delivers higher levels of mobility and security for the iPhone and increased protection from Internet-borne threats such as spam and viruses with Mobile Connect virtual private network software.
Lotus Notes and Domino software adoption has grown to more than 140 million licensed users worldwide.
The ability to connect to secure business email on devices such as the iPhone is an example of Tomorrow at Work, an IBM initiative that examines a changing work world and anticipates trends in technology, business, society and culture.
